Lilliputs is South Africa’s oldest toy retailer. Established in the early 1950’s in Jeppe Street, Johannesburg by Dolly Shiller, her three sisters and sister-in-law, the company flourished and was registered as a private company in 1957. The store moved to Pritchard Street, opposite the Supreme Court, where it soon became the leading toy store in South Africa. Branches were later opened, at various times, in Rosebank, Killarney, Hyde Park and the Carlton Centre.
In 1977, the company moved their store from Baker Street into the new Mall of Rosebank. With the change in buying patterns, the Pritchard Street and Carlton Centre stores were closed, but the Rosebank store flourished and expanded together with the Rosebank Mall. In 2014, a branch was opened in Hyde Park Corner Shopping Centre.
Lilliputs is synonymous with all the leading toy brands, and is a leading retailer in LEGO, Playmobil, Fischer-Price, Barbie, Hot Wheels, HASBRO Gaming, KEEL Toys and Step 2.
